Default TPC Racing: 400HP 996

It is a nice day here at TPC Racing. Warm weather, all of the bay doors open so we strapped down a 2000 996 with our TPC Racing Turbo Kit. The kit was recently installed so we put it on the dyno to make a few pulls. Very impressive power for a bolt-on kit!!

What kinda intake temps are you seeing after driving for a half hour going into and out of full boost on the street with the air/water setup?

What's reliability like on these engines? Do you have any long-term test mules with 100k+ miles on them with a combination of street and track driving?

400hp is a nice round number. What do you suggest for beefing up engine internals, if anything, especially with our ' notoriously' weak engines?

Would be nice if they used stock tips to keep the factory look, and black hoses etc...

The reliability will remain close to factory. Turbos are the easiest on parts.
The clutch will last just as long as factory too. Toptronic life will be reduced but can be rebuilt for $500 so who cares about that.

The only thing I wanna know about this kit is for a street car with a rear mounted airto water Intercooler, how the intake temps are kept low at at what intercooler water temp the dyno run was made. If intake temps start to get hot after some spirited street driving the motor will want to detonate and the ECU will reduce timing to incredibly low numbers to the point the motor is not making much more power the stock.

Hopefully they will post some data on this.

The reliability will remain like your factory car if you service the car normally (oil changes every 5,000 miles etc.)

In regards to the intake temps, on all Porsche cars, the airbox is located in the engine compartment in the location where it has access to consistent stable airflow. Based on years of R&D and racing, both the engineers at Porsche and we have found this location to provide stable consistent cool airflow, even in racing conditions. There is a lot of airflow that goes over the deck lid of a 911. Temps are also held stable by the intercooler like in any Porsche turbo car like the GT2 and TT.

Do you offer an air to air intercooler? The water is prone to severe heat soak in a street application.

Where do you propose to mount the air to air intercooler where it would be efficient?

With only 4 psi of boost have you compared running no Intercoolers at all with a water cooled CHRA with a 180 T stat?

Would you sell the kit without Intercoolers setup?

I guess with a single turbo set up there just has to be some circuitous plumbing, especially the compressed air duct going from the turbo, across the back of the engine, to the intercooler on the other side. It looks complicated but my view is that this is not a bad spot for an intercooler. A 911 offers no better spot for a single intercooler (you can stick smaller, twin intercoolers into the fenders like RUF does). Pretty slick.

Ummmm 20 years of experience and its still not enough to make your own turbo kit?

Lol, dude you crack me up... Why don't you shut your trap and stop posting irrelevant ****. Sounds like a plan to me...

Do you guys sell the kit without Intercoolers as an option? With only 4-6psi of boost and a water fed CHRA with a 180 t stat I'm not even sure a Intercoolers is needed at all the more I think about it. Can you bypass the Intercoolers and make a pull to see the intake temps? I have a customer looking for a setup...
