Default Wierd tire question for tire gurus

Sumi IIIs in 225/45 ZR18 & 285/35 ZR18.
I know these are not your typical tire sizes but, are a perfect match for 18", 7.5 and 10" turbo twist wheels on a 2001 C2 Tip. from a design aspect, but are larger diameter. see below (red).

285/35ZR18Load Index 97 = 1609lbs (730kg) per tire
Speed Rating “Y” = 186mph (300kph) 97Y SLMax Load = 1,609 lbs
Max psi = 51 psi
Treadwear: 300
Traction: AA
Temperature: A300 AA A 1609 lbs.
51 psi
10/32"
29 lbs. 9.5-11"
10" measured rim width
11.2" aspect ratio
10.3" tread width
26" diameter .7" larger than stock 803 rev per mile
225/45ZR18Load Index 95 = 1521lbs (690kg) per tire
Speed Rating “Y” = 186mph (300kph) 95Y XLMax Load = 1,521 lbs
Max psi = 50 psi
Treadwear: 300
Traction: AA
Temperature: A300 AA A 1521 lbs.
50 psi
10/32"
25 lbs. 7-8.5"
7.5" measured rim
9" aspect ratio
8.1" tread width
25.9" diameter .8" larger than stock 803 rev per mile

The roads here are rough and I have the ROW M030 suspension, I'm getting beat to death on road expansion joints and pot holes, mostly rears I think.
Thought this setup might absorb some shock.

Question: will this setup have much adverse effect on a daily driver, moderately aggressive style.

I have sold the same sizes for the 996 before with no real reports back of trouble. They are a bit tall but fit as long as the car is not lowered too far. Preferably not at all. They will absorb a bit more road shock, but not any more than buying performance all seasons in the proper sizing.

Give me a call, we'll talk through it some more and get you into something that works!

Hello,

I have a question I am looking at a set of tires for sale in my area, the back tires one is 255/40/18 the other is 266/35/18. Not sure why the back are different as the wheels seem to be a set, the two fronts are 225/55 i think but both are same.

Can i drive on these wheels, i think the previous owner did.

The tire size is too tall for your car. A better recommendation would be a tire that has a more compliant ride or to downsize within the vehicle manufacturer specifications. In this case I would recommend Michelin tires or original equipment Porsche tire and wheel sizes in 17". Since you mentioned that you are a more agressive driver I would take the Michelin 18" route in the proper sizes for your car 225/40-17 or 235/40-17 front and 265/35-18, 285/30 18 or 295/30 18 rear. Sumitomo tires are not going to solve either problem.

I agree with Alan. It sounds like 17" is really the better option.

Which Michelins? For control first plus a bit more comfort for daily driver.
