Default Full Leather dash care

I have read elsewhere that the leather on the top of the dashboard is different than the other leather and you should not use the normal leather conditioner for maintenance. My owners manual does not mention this. Does anyone know the real answer?

I've been using Zaino Z10 and products from colorplus.com for years with excellent results. Both my car have full leather interiors. The main thing to protect the leather dash is a quality sun shade, and used regularly.

It's finished just like what's on the seats. Main thing is to treat it with a high quality leather conditioner regulalry and minimize sun exposure.

Rather than different leather, the covering on the dash seems perhaps a bit thinner than that on the seats. Logical, as it does not have to resist direct wear.

But sun and heat is the enemy. And not just in the summer. The dry air of the winter is also a problem. Consistent treatment with a good leather cleaner and conditioner is required to avoid it drying out and then shrinking back at the corners.

There are lots of good leather products, but you cannot go wrong with Lexol.

Thanks all that makes sense. I found it hard to believe you should not condition it like the rest of the leather so glad we cleared that up
