Default Just had IMS done at R.O.C.S Auto NJ

These guys just did the LNE IMS Retrofit, RMS, new clutch and AOS on my car. I don't give praise lightly but they did a great job, a pleasure to do business with.

Clutch was shot and the AOS was on it's way out so it was time. AOS was making a noise and the oil filler cap was hard to remove when the engine was running. I didn't realize how stiff the clutch was until I picked the car up after having the new one fitted. It feels like driving a new car.

Turns out the seal on the IMS was gone but the bearing itself seemed OK. Car has 44K on it. I sleep better now.

Many thanks to Rich and Victor at R.O.C.S.

Cheers

Matt

In S.E. Pennsylvania the indys get at least $3K parts and labor for these 4 replacements/updates together.

Just got my IMS retrofit and RMS replaced over the holidays at BTM Motorwerks in Campbell, CA (San Jose basically). My 2000 996 had just turned over 90K. Ran me right around $2K. Brad did a great job. IMS bearing was on its way OUT!! I'm feeling like a genius for having it done instead of going with the 'early warning system'.

Don't forget to have it done again in another 40K miles!

Why do you have to do all this stuff on a car with only 40k miles on them?

The car's 11 years old. AOS and clutch had gone, IMS and RMS were precautionary. I really wouldn't mind 2-3k every 40k miles (or every ten years at this rate!)

I had my IMS and RMS done, I wish the indy shop was smarter and knew I should replace the AOS when the engine was out. I now know it should have been replaced, I wonder if they know about it yet. When I checked the oil after this work was done they only filled the oil up to barley to the add line, if it touched at all. I'm not going back there.

Did you give the oil enough time to drain back into the sump? If you check it too soon after you shut it off it might still be draining down.

Yes I did that. I put in almost two quarts and it has stayed just below the full line and the dash oil gauge full line for almost 5000 miles.
