Default 2002 C4S w/ 129K miles

You'll want pictures and a carfax, PPI, etc. but I don't have those yet. Just want to get some generic opinions on buying with this high of miles.

Of course I could find out it's a salvage title or damaged once I look into it closer, however, the car is absolutely stunning. Leather looks so good it's almost unbelievable, better than my leather in my 3 years old Benz.

INdy dealer is asking $19,900.

If the car get a good bill of health engine wise and electric. I figured I'll offer $17,500 probably pay $18,000 and then be willing to do $5,000/$7,000 in fixes, shocks/struts, tires, IMS, RMS, and complete fluids, etc.

Am I crazy or not. Wait till I post pictures of this car, it's very clean in and out.

in SoCal, that price sounds about right for the year/mileage/model

Since your total out of pocket is around $25k, I would suggest finding a car with around 60,000 or 70,000 miles for around $22k and put $3k into IMS, RMS, Water pump etc.

Interesting pricing. My car is a 2003 with 130k miles.

Good luck

Seems kind of high overall. I'd be patient (very hard to do) and keep looking.

Jyoteen, what would someone have to offer you to pry you into a sale?

By the way I'm going to see the car at in an hour. Will take photos and get what info. I can.

Dealer was closed the day I saw it on the lot.

A car with over 100k in perfect shape may command $19.9K.

With a Salvage title...$14K max IMHO.

I wouldn't be interested, for 19-20K I think you can get a higher miles clean title car.

You will have no resale value.

+1 .. I'd spend the $25K on something with 1/2 the miles ....

If I had the car already - I'd drive until it dies - but these are not Toyotas - things probably start to get expensive with age.

The air cooled guys run for many more miles - but those were in the days before complex electronics - you see a couple of folks on the board here with 200K+ miles - and I'm hoping it is possible to get to that sort of mileage - but if I was buying used - I'd look for something different ...

actually nothing really. My car has high enough miles that its value is just beyond a number at this point. Plus, I don't think I'd get into another Porsche unless it's a GT3 or a 3RS, so $20k won't really make a difference to me these days.

I'm not so sure I agree. If the car is in great shape, has the original paint and a clean title (the OP didn't say it has a salvage title, he was just saying it could) I think it is definately priced well.

If that car was driven 11K per year by the same orginal owner (again with no paint work), that car is a value.

Putting a few $$$ into it as the OP mentioned would only make sense if the car is a keeper. i'd plunk down $16.5 cash and see what happens. (pending a clean PPI of course)

4 years ago I got my '99 C4 with 125k miles for $22.5k. It now has 156k miles and has been a fabulous car. It was well maintained and I've had to hardly do any maintenance in that time frame. Other than oil changes and tires (and a battery), I had to do brakes, a radiator fan and an wheel speed sensor.

Cosmetically it's great inside and out.

Just a week ago, one of my friends purchased a 2003 C2 Cab with 101K on the odo for under $19K. He will probably put another $5K into it. The title is clean and so is CarFax. IMO he got himself a really good deal

First time posting pics. Didn't mean to post those. Now it's not letting me upload more pics. Is it because I'm not a member or something?
