Low temp thermostat - which one
This thread is NOT for debating the benefits of low temperature thermostat.
What I'm asking is, from the list of thermostats in Pelican parts page, which one is the 'correct' low temp thermostat.
As can be seen there are at least 3 brands (Wahler, LNE and MotoRad), and they vary in prices. If they are fundamentally the same, why would I get the most expensive one?
The Wahler one has this "Water Thermostat, Low Temperature (begins opening at 160 deg F) with Cover and Gasket, 996 Carrera 2/4 (1999-04)
Brand: Wahler"

~BUMP~
I was in the process of ordering a water pump and thermostat in the next day or two, and was looking at a MotoRad thermostat only vs the Wahler kit, which included the housing and gasket (seems like the latter is a idea)

They still get nice and hot, they still produce great cabin heat, and the engine still takes a long time to cool down after a hard run. Gas mileage is not impacted and LN has determined that very slight (did I say very slight?) performance gains are a potential outcome.
Been running the LN low temp stat for 2+ years in northern Delaware where we get every kind of weather an temperature variation.

I have the Wahler that included the housing as well. Wahler is OEM and I have had no problems thus far

They are controlled by the ECU (you can switch them on via Durametric or Enginuity) and they use actual coolant temp input, so I see no reason at all to make them switch on sooner with a LT T-stat. Makes no sense. The coolant temp, is the coolant temp, regardless. During SOT, an LT T-stat is just more open than the stock one. At 10-20 degrees above SOT, they are both wide open, and there is no difference.

i ordered the $40 Motorad from Pelican... it is made in Germany (US Motorad did not even know it was made at all since not avaio from them in USA). I have not put it in yet so I am watching these threads carefully... who makes the LN T-stat?
