CDR-23 Repair
My CDR-23 often clicks loudly on startup and CD load/eject, and fails to play. Worse, it occasionally locks up completely with STOP displayed and doesn't work at all, not even the radio works. I suspect it's missing a gear tooth in the CD eject mechanism. Has anyone attempted to repair this themselves? Are replacement gears or mechanisms available?
Becker won't sell me any spare parts, but has quoted me $200 to fix it if I mail it in. Q. Can I drive the car with the radio removed, or will it throw some error/lockout I need to visit the dealer to reset?

Three Wheelin'
You can remove the radio and drive the car. LOL. It will still work.
Depending on your model year there is usually a brown/(blue?) wire on the drivers side plugged into the radio frame you should disconnect and tape while the radio is out. That way your alarm won't complain. But worst case if you don't do that or don't find the wire the alarm will honk when you try to lock it, but will still work.
I haven't read about any DIY repair parts, though I have personally been at the Becker factory in Germany.
