My second ski day at Loon...
https://rennlist.com/forums/attachme...1&d=1324335313
Woke up last Thurs. to a dusting of new snow just across from Loon Mtn., only day #2 skiing this season. So far, I've driven my reliable and capable 13 year old 996 to the White mtns. twice this season, and logged 280 miles round trip each time. I'd like to accumulate some miles this winter on my coupe, it puts a smile on my face every time I get some quality 'seat' time in my Porsche. Slow start to the season, very mild winter so far. Tough to make snow with such warm temps.

Barn 996:
I am surprised that you go to Woodstock (????) to ski...why not head to Sugarloaf or Sunday River? I'm sure your baby would enjoy a few more winter miles. It is well worth the extra drive time.......

I've skied both Sugarloaf and Sunday River for several years, but a friend owns a condo in Lincoln directly across from the Mtn. and I have a key, plus he's my ski buddy. Both my boys raced at Loon during Jr High and High school and I've continued to ski there.
Yes Maurice, but from the access rd. the bridge is 1/2 the width of the original bridge which is still intact on the Mtn. side of the river.

Glad you got out to ski! We generally take our Porsche up to ski also, but it's the Cayenne and not the 996! How do you haul your skis without a roof rack? That seems like the only hard part...
The snow here hasn't been great either. I've been out 9 times this year already, mostly at Breckenridge and Keystone with one day at Arapaho Basin. It's snowing at my house now, so hopefully the resorts are getting a few inches too.

The nice thing about skiing today is that skis are getting so much shorter--and easily fit inside a modern Carrera!
I'm glad to see someone enjoying a 911 in the snow--something they are well known for.
Loon--a great Mountain. Sunday River--also quite nice.
Some days I miss New England.
And then I walk outside and pick some avocados, and forget that notion quickly!

Dennis- I have a locker at the mtn. so no need to haul skis back and forth. Nice to hear you have 9 days in already, i'm jealous.
Vange- 7 trails 1st day, 14 trails a week later and snow is good.
Edgy- Skis are shorter, I'm on 178s. Love driving my 911 this winter. Loon now has expanded its South mtn. Several new trails to ski.

Btw, Barn, nice start to the season! I'm really hoping to spend more time on the slopes this year than I have in the recent past. Now that my kids are getting to be of age (4 and 6) they're also asking to get out there...which is awesome.

Eric- Both of my boys started to ski around that age or slightly earlier. They are now in their 30's and have kids who are just about ready to ski. Both have worked in the ski industry, but now have different career paths. I still ski on skis that I bought from each son when they were selling skis.
