Default Jack Stands- Bent rear "i think" control arm a bit- PIC- HELP!

So i need to ship out all 4 wheels and leave my car on jack stands for 2 weeks, lifted the car put the front jacks under the control arms everything fine, went to the rear and went to lower the car onto jack stand (rear drivers side ) which i had under the rear control arm **i think thats a control arm** and when lowering noticed it was bending up-

So its bowed up a bit on that side now, is this the control arm in the photo? **update-its the control arm LINK** what are the issues i can face now? need new one? average cost?

and is car fine the way i have it sitting now, the rear jack stands under the rear jacking points but fronts are under front control arms *which seem much bigger and thicker than rears

**wheel looks like that in the pic because car is up in the air and the bolts are off the wheel**

oups I think you are in to buy a new 'lower control arm', the bend is pretty bad, so much that I can see the wheel is abnormally cambered because of the bent arm

Check pelicanparts.com for price, not to hard to replace yourself but pricey I believe in the 400 bucks a piece.

I would advise not to drive it like this because it could break apart completely and then much bigger problem in your hand.

Never put jacks anywhere but on the jacking location or under the rear cross member located further forward from the engine.

1/ put jack on one side of the rear jack location, this will raise the front wheel enough to place a jack stand in that side on the front
2/ repeat on the other side from the rear jack location and place jack in front
3/ to raise the back, place jack under the center of the rear cross member, both rear wheels will lift enough to place jacks in the rear

never put jacks anywhere but on the jacking location and in the rear you can lift both side at one using the cross member located further forward than the engine.

1/ jack from back jack location, this will raise the front wheel enough
2/ place jack stand in the front
3/ repeat on the other side from the back and place jack in front
4/ to raise the back, place jack in the center of the rear cross member
5/ place jacks in the rear

Philo the wheel looks like that because its up in the air and the bolts are off it, control arms on ebay are $100 pelican parts $175 so i think your a bit off, but thanks for the info

Don't forget an alignment once all the new stuff is bolted up.

New arm.

You might consider buying a set of these:

http://rss.rpmware.com/rss/rss_tarma.../i-398276.aspx

Adjustable. And the rubber bushings are removed.

I was in dealer the other day as the tech was installing a set of these in a GT2. The parts looked fantastic and the tech tells me they are quality aftermarket hardware.

He told me a set of 4 for my car (03 Turbo) would run about $500 installed and then an alignment on top of that. I might have this done the next time the car needs 4 new tires so the alignment is done after the arm upgrade and new tires are installed.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Tarek307, I have an extra new (or slightly used) control arm sitting out in my garage. If you post the correct part number for your's, I will check and see if mine is the same. If mine is the one you need, consider it an early Christmas present. I had the same thing happen at America's Tire Store and my insurance paid for the dealer to fix it.

I guess you know this now, but that's what the jack points are for. There are several DIY's on how to safely put a 996 on stands.

+1 on not forgetting the alignment. You can eat rear tires in a hurry if the alignment is off.

Me too. I'm not sure I need new control arms, but at 75% off installed, I'll make the investment.
