During my search for my 40th AE 996, there were about 4 for sale close by the State of Rhode Island, so I had a good opportunity to find the car I really wanted. Keep in mind this was 2.5 years ago. That's quite a cluster of 40th AE cars in the same area (CT and MA, and RI).
I came across this independent luxury car sales place in MA somewhere. They were selling their Dad's 40th AE 996 with 17,000 miles on it. It appeared to be in great shape. It was in the running. Asking price was 47K. At this time period, all 40th AE cars were in the 44-48K range - I ended up with one closer to 48K because I wanted the car with 12,000 miles on it and it was a Porsche dealer CPO car. I asked if the car came with the luggage (I'm **** - I want everything that came with the car if possible, including the Monroney sticker - so luggage is an obvious item I would be on the lookout for.)
Unfortunately I was told the car did not come with the luggage.
Jump to this past month - I have seen the same sales place trying to sell a 40th AE luggage set on eBay for $999 PLUS $99.99 shipping. $1100.00 bucks for the luggage set. 2 years after they sold the car.
That luggage should have been included the in the car it came in which they sold. It's just another greedy dealer trying to milk a product for all it's worth. I guess it is capitalism at work, but I'm speaking from a moral sense of doing the right thing. Especially if you are an independent luxury car sales business.

While I agree that dealers, in general, suck! I think you're reaching on this one. It looks to be a flawless set, you should buy it if you don't have one.

Take a drive over there, ask to see if the luggage fits in the frunk'; they might not even remember you or the car they sold to you. Get into some bargaining and what not; drop a couple hundo on the ground then "accidentally" drive away.
j/k. You had a chance to try and get the total package, but unfortunately, it didn't work in your favor. Good luck to those bastiges!

+1 on not sure why they would wait 2 years to sell the set, but if you got a good car from them then I would be happy with that.

First, as others have said, it's nearly impossible to tell if this is the set that came with the car you bought. It wouldn't be unheard of for them to come across another set in the last two years.
Second, you could have told them "no luggage, no deal" at the time of purchase.

It doesn't matter if it came with the car you bought or not. It was not represented as being included in the price you paid. Talk to the owner of the dealership, explain your situation and see if they will work with you on price. If not decide how bad you want it and bid or pass. It seems odd that it would be in its original boxes still if it came with your car originally.
Yes dealers do slimey things but I believe the buyer has to do his due diligence and know exactly what he is buying and for how much before signing on the dotted line. GL!

One of the cool things on the AE was the luggage it came with. I hear ya not having it and I will say if you really want it now just go and negotiate a price for it.
At the end it will make you feel great about it but its not worth a frustration or anger about it IMO

Dude, it's a couple of cheesy suitcases. Screw them and put the money towards some bad *** tires or something.

Pretty sad to go and post on the Internet how greedy and immoral someone/place is, when you have no way to tell if that was from your car and it wasn't even part of your purchase anyways. Good technical discussion forum!
