I was wondering if there were any online Black Friday specials for pCar parts.
I was perusing the web and found the smartTOP module with a Black Friday special price (15% off). This was on my wish list so I ordered one and have it in hand.
Unfortunately, temperature and snow here in Denver have just dropped as well so I'll have to wait until it warms up (don't want to be breaking any plastic pieces).
Any other Black Friday specials? Post them here. It will be a good reference for next year.
I just happened to search the web for "Smarttop" on Black Friday and there it was. I have installed it. Very easy to do and I learned more about the rear section of my 996. I love being able to open/close while I'm driving with one touch, operate the rear windows when open. Highly recommended for Cab owners!
there is someone on the boxster site that was selling something very similar and i believe it also worked on the 996. he manufactured them and i believe they were less than a $100... i know he was a sponsor on the 986forum website but don't know if he is still there since they went to a change...
Seems a bit of mixed reviews, would be nice to get a bit more track record on this option, price seems very good.
However the site says it will be "relaunched in Dec. 2012" http://www.onetouchporsche.com/#!__buy , I guess to re-engineer some of the issues. The installation video http://www.onetouchporsche.com/#!__installation shows a very simple gizmo, I wonder if it is just a simple circuit to pick up 12V from the indicator power and a little resistoer/capacitor network that mimics the swtich being pressed for a set amount of time to the convertible top controller.
