What's the deal about cold air intakes? They don't get the air from outside the engine compartment like the stock air box and their filter area is much smaller than the stock air filter. Wouldn't it be better to put a K&N filter in the stock air box?

Yes that is true. Keep the stock airbox and run it with a k&n or Bmc filter. If you are after looks go for the 997 airbox.

I did it and loved it...in fact when I sold the car I forgot it was in there, left it on....great mod for like $1.88 AND you get a can of shaving cream to use!!!

I miss my EVOMS, it looked somewhat factory and certainly changed the engine's note. Not sure about extra HP though as claimed. Go light with the filter oil or don't run any at all and you'll be fine.

I think Fabspeed has one that looks bling too.

But I've read about a lot of issues with the K&N units.
