Thinking of selling my targa. Curious to what you all think I could get / should ask?
2002 Seal Gray targa, CPO expires in about 2-3 weeks
-35,000 miles
-30k service complete
-Service records since new
-IMS Guardian will come with it
-Hand washed / Griot's products by me for the last 20k miles.
-Paint is 9/10
-Interior 9/10
-I'm the 3rd owner (all owners have had car under factory / CPO warranty)
-3 DE days
-Xenons
-Heated Sport Seats (black interior)
-Bose
-18" lightweight carrera's
-Carbon fiber gear shifter / parking brake
-Console painted seal gray
-Rocker panels
-PSM
-ROW M030 suspension
-997 shifter
-GT3 lip spoiler
-GT3 center console delete (have stock center console)
-Rennline sport pedals
-New Yokohama AD08s
-Oil changed every 5k, plugs replaced this summer
-A lot repaired under CPO (all from memory at this point): fuel pump, coils, coolant reservoir, window regulators, MAF, seat belt buckles, RMS, timing chain guides, fuel filler stuff, and plenty other things I can't recall right now.
There may be other options and definitely more repairs that I don't have at my fingertips. If I sell, I'll comb carefully through receipts of course. But this should be enough to get some guesses.
So, what do you say?

Well, if you price it mid $30s problem you starting to get into 997 territory.
Car is clean and low miles so I think it will sell but might take some time IMO
Yeah, what you are buying next?

Air cooled most likely. I'll sell Wrangler and 996 now (if it sells). Buy GTI this winter, then start the search for a $20k or less 1984-1994 911.
I like the 996 a lot but I've wanted an air cooled since I've been a kid. My grandpa had a 1973 911E and he sold it in 1990 when I was 18.
Sick of Jeep so GTI will replace that.

welcome to the club!!!
I cannot say if you will enjoy it as much as I do, but I can say if you have any interest in doing it....you should at least do it and find out....
You know Ferd (redridge) picked up an 84 Targa this year too...I think he is having fun with it.
for me it was a step in my Porsche life I needed to take before I went for the 997...after I took the step I wont be needing to acquire the 997 afterall
(maybe a 356 or late 60's 911)

Agree, mid thirties or higher if you're not in a hurry Another option is to take it to Carmax, see what they offer. Price accordingly.
Good luck on the quest for an air S U C K E R!!!

Mid-30s might be right, if not a bit high, but if the car is as nice as it sounds in your description and you're patient you might find the right buyer. Good luck!

Luckily there there are 2 VW/Porsche dealers in my state, so we'll see what they want to do.
Check out this crazy asking price...granted very low miles: http://ucl.porsche.de/ucl/plsql/usa/...&pnr_=2&lnr_=9

I'm thinking $32-33k but time will tell. If a VW/Porsche dealer (not that many combos) will give me $31 on trade, I'll take it to save the $1,500 on tax for a GTI. Then the hunt for an air cooled will begin.

There are 2 Porsche dealers in Cuyahoga county and one near Barbeton...you are correct. But only 2 VW / Porsche dealers that have both brands in Ohio from what I can recall. One in Dayton and one in Columbus (MAG).

Lear Jets are really cool, really fast, comfortable and elite - a P-51 Mustang is also really cool, really fast (though not AS fast) not so comfortable and elite....
some people will always want to fly the P-51, others will always be lured to the Lear Jets....both respect each other's reasons, both would be happy to fly the other guys, but both fly theirs because it speaks to them........
so I drive a 25 year old Porsche, and dream of a 35-45 year old one
That's kinda how I explain it

I would like to pick up a 964 in addition to my 996. I would prefer a 993, but the cost will be so much higher. Maybe if the bonus at work is good this year I can put that towards a car. Something in the 15-18K range would be nice.
