Default 3.4 to 3.8 conversion nickies

Has anyone using LN Engineering's nickies tried the 3.4l to 3.8l conversion? If not, what about the 3.4 to 3.6? What are the dyno results? Any info is appreciated.

3.4 to 3.6l

For 3.4 to 3.8l, I believe that you need the 3.6l crank.

For the 3.4L to 3.6L F6I reported 50hp gained on the dyno for an outcome of 286hp at the wheels (stock is 296hp at flywheel). Although, that HP figure sounds like it included a performance camshaft regrind and altered timing from stock. Not sure if Jake messed with the deck height and other mods - ecu/intake/exhaust.

I'm not sure if LN could do a custom rebore out to 3.8L on a 3.4L block.

Main bearing size was increased from 60mm in 3.4L to to 63mm in 3.6L block, not sure if you could put a 3.6L crank in a 3.4L bearing carrier.

I was primarily looking at the increased bore size rather than changing crank. In other words, boring out the stock cylinders, replacing with nickies and increasing to 3.6 or maybe even 3.8l, any thoughts?

Autofarm offers this option, and you are correct, they use the 3,6 bearing carrier allso.
I'm not sure what else modification is needed...

Buy the prodrivers block (if it's still for sale) and sell your old one. Fast and easy

Ditto... sell your old long block and buy byprodriver's. It's a good price considering the upgrades he did alone cost somewhere around $8000-$9000. Not to mention he attended Jake's engine rebuild school so you know it is done properly

I think the question on 3.4L to 3.8L might be is there is enough meat there. Autofarm in UK does 3.4L to 3.7L with silsleeve (similar to Nickies).

If you want to go bigger than 3.6L, getting a 3.6L engine first might be the easier (and cheaper) route, or if you are just looking for more HP, go for the 3.4L to 3.6L bore and then do some other mods like ECU, intake, exhaust, camshaft, etc.

If you are looking at loads more HP look into super charging... of course all of the money you'll spend you might be better off looking for a turbo.

Rods are shorter in the 3.6L to accommodate larger stroke.

Hmmm... starting to sound expensive huh?

Yes, but the engine will be 3.9l

I had a little e-mail conversation with the autofarm last month, and they said that the cams and the ecu tune could yield 100hp/liter for the 3.4l.
Sounds tempting...
