Car locks, then unlocks itself
Background info:
Car was just in for repairs. The front right fender was replaced due to a car backing into it.
Upon getting my car back today, I locked it with the remote on my key, and it locked just fine - for 2 seconds. Then it unlocked itself, and the horn honked twice.
Help?

In my experience the only time my car will double beep and unlock after locking is either a door, hood or trunk is still open or car "thinks" its still open.

One possible cause is a door lock assembly. A bad one can start out causing the symptom you report. The condition deteriorates and then you'll hear the doors lock and see the door lock Led on the dash come on shortly after starting the engine and driving away. (I seldom lock the car once I'm in the car.) If one presses the door unlock button on the dash the doors unlock and the Led goes dark but sometimes the Led comes on again concurrently with the sounds of the doors locking.
Towards the 'end' the window of the door with the failing door lock will fail to drop when the door is opened or worse drop then come up again once the door is open.
A shop equipped with a PST2/PIWIS can interact with the car's security controller and pull out any error codes and from the codes probably pinpoint the door and likely the sensor/switch. In my car's case though it turned out to be the door lock assembly proper and not one of the cheaper/smaller switches/sensors.
On the outside chance it is not a door lock check for dampness in the cabin. Maybe the car got left out in the rain with the top down one day?
Also, cars in for body work often get washed quite heavily and if a car water drain is blocked, or even if the top leaks, or a door/window seal leaks, this can let water in the cabin and the car's security system controller is located on the floor of the cabin, under one of the seats.
Sincerely,
Macster.

Sounds like a problem with the security system, not the main system, not the controller, but with one of the many switches/sensors.

It is an issue with the door lock sensors. There is an excellent write-up over on Renntech. I have had the same problem and the only way to eliminate it is clean and or replace the errant switches/sensors. In the write-up, look at #6 in the "Typical Faults" section.
