Default Mothers Aluminum Wheel Cleaner - Thumbs Up!

I like my wheels but they are a major pain to clean. There are so many nooks and crannies it takes a lot of effort to clean them. Today I tried Mother's Aluminum Wheel Cleaner and it worked great. Just spray it on, wait 2 minutes, and hose it off. The wheels came out like new. It even worked pretty well on the lugs, which I haven't been able to get clean until today.

Haven't been able to find anything negative about the product online. My wheels are listed as "Alloy" on the factory sticker. I'm guessing that means some kind of Aluminum alloy, no?

From Mother's website:

"Mothers® Aluminum Wheel Cleaner is formulated to safely and easily clean uncoated polished aluminum and anodized wheels. Gentle, yet effective, Aluminum Wheel Cleaner doesn’t just stop at aluminum. It also works great on painted, clearcoated, color coated, steel, modular, chrome, custom or factory coated wheels and hubcaps. Its unique spray on, hose off design safely penetrates, dissolves and suspends all types of brake dust, grease, dirt, and grime, making rinsing a snap. "

they are 100% aluminum BUT coated (painted, sealed)

many new products are great, but you have to be careful, some can damage the coatings....if your rims were not coated they would look horrible in a few days - aluminium oxidizes immediately and tarnishes very quickly when exposed to the elements. Many people give specific PH ratings for cleaners to use

found this -
How to keep it clean: I wash my wheels regularly with a non-acidic cleaner that is safe for the finish of the wheels and every three months I apply a protective coat of a hydropolymer on the wheel to create a heat resistant barrier against road grime and brake dust. Cleaning wheels then becomes a breeze. This coat keeps your wheels cleaner that much longer and prevents the need for using a strong and harsh wheel cleaner ever in it's lifetime.

personally I use Rejex on the wheels....then just normal bathing water and a separate wash sponge/brush/microfiber cloth
