Hi Steve,
Honestly, I never thought I would miss this car that much. When the leak down numbers came back 8-10% cold, it would run around 5-8% hot so it is still a tight motor. Then, I kinda went in with an open checkbook.
I want to keep this car for another few years or so it is justified. Earlier this year, I thought about getting a 993TT but decided to keep a safety cash fund instead with a kid on the way and a new house this year.

I bet it is like night and day. Great share! Thanks.
But no case cracking. Did you test pre/post compression and leak down?
Thanks again!

I believe only pre leak down was done to determine how far I was going to go on this motor refresh. I ended paying an extra $180 in labor or 2hrs and $1300 extra in parts. Most of that were cost of lifters.
The lifters have to be broken in so nothing above 4500RPM for a few hundred miles. It was tough and I may have broke that rule coming back from the shop yesterday for a few seconds.. I have to go down to Baltimore on Tuesday so will finish/knock that out in one day.
The car feels much smoother. I drove Ferd's SC car a few months ago. While this new car is not as powerful, it brought back the smoothness in power delivery.
Happy pregnant wife = very happy life. You will learn that when you go on the journey with your life partner young one..

Chao thats great that you got the car back. With your situation, I think you'll be happy with that car for the next few years.
We definitely have to get at least one more drive in this year.
Now take that thing out for a nice drive.

Chao, I must say quite a bit of work there are you doing this yourself or had a indy shop work on it for you?
Is this regular maintenance for 99k miles on a 996? When your done she should run like a new 911 I hope. Good record keeping too.

I think the car would get sent to Jake for a bore out if I decide to go down that route. IMS is fine. A bit of wear on the bolt but bearing is fine. The shop owner is an enthusiast who I drove up to F1 Montreal with and few Pcar runs. He now has my BMW doing a mini overhaul also.
