Default New (to me) 996

I just added this 996 to my small collection of Porsches. As I know most of you want to see photos of the new additions, I've attached these.

I bought the car in the Bay Area, and drove it back to my home in Cle Elum (80 miles east of Seattle).

I'll be driving this car to the Rennsport Reunion in a few weeks, and also to the PCA Parade next year in SLC. Should be a good car for that.

But, they all will probably go into hibernation in early Nov, when the snow flies

Looks great! You don't see that color on a 996 very often. I like it.

Yeah, there are actually 5 cars in the shop. The one little bit that you see in the one photo is the tail end of a 2008 Honda Civic Si, in Fuji Blue. That's was my DD when I was working in Seattle, now it just gets me to the various tracks where I crew for Adare Motorsports.

The other car that isn't seen is a 2002 Ford Escape - ya gotta have something to take stuff to the dump, go shopping in, etc. And its my wife's favorite car. With Blizzacks on it, its almost unstoppable in the snow.

The 996 is Forest Green Metallic, which is a pretty interesting color, seems to change hues in the sun and shade.

great color!
Once you settle in with her - we would love to hear you compare driving experiences between the models.

Not sure I can make good comparisons between the models

The 996 is stock right now and probably will remain that way. My wife did ask "are you going to lower it?" and I answered no..... for now! And I also told her I probably won't upgrade the shocks or muffler. She says this "might" be a Porsche she can drive - since I haven't mounted the seats back on the rails (I'm 5'17" and she's like 5'4").

The 993 has had H&R coilovers added, which lowered it about 2 inches. I also installed M030 sway bars, poly bushings in the front suspension bits, smaller steering wheel, OMP sport seats, a chip, roll bar, much larger wing, plus front spoilers. Yeah, its my track car. I'm a PCA national instructor and teach for schools in Seattle and Spokane, along with the Proformance Race school in Seattle.

The 911 has been lowered, Bilstein shocks installed, Tarrett adjustable sways, a chip, Dansk Sport Muffler, Corbeau seats, Momo steering wheel, and some other stuff. It was my track car before the 993.

And I lowered the Civic as well, although not as much as the 911 and 993. Just looks better, and handles a little better as well. I did put some other wheels and Sumitomo HTR ZIII on it.

So, its a little hard to make comparisons and I doubt I'll be able to in the future. I will say it is nice to have a Porsche with A/C that works - it was 95 deg for about 1/2 of the trip home, and it was good to put the top up and turn the A/C on. Will make a nice trip to Monterey (although I suspect it will be cool enough to not need the A/C!).

My wife does like the heated seats, which none of the other cars have. And it is a pretty highly optioned car, so I'm still trying to figure out all the stuff.
