The book was first published in March 2008, alot of new information has come out since then.

I've been under the impression low millage and seldom used cars were more at risk, than cars driven harder with frequent oil changes reduced the chance on ims failure.?

Everything you read or hear about the cause of ims failure is pure speculation. Don't assign too much weight to any one theory.
