Ball Joint vs. CV Joint-Q
Hey Guys symptom wise would a cv joint problem differ from a ball joint problem? i'm getting a 'clunk' sound on the drivers side (or so it seems) after the car has been driven over bumpy roads for a while and then i do a slow speed turn over bumps. after the car sits over night the sound doesn't seem to be as prevalent if there at all. only after driving on 'lovely' calgary roads for at least 30mins does it rear its head again, or if i hit a pot hole it'll come back. Just seems weird to me that it goes away after the car 'rests' for a while.
Any thoughts?

CV is more often clicking/rattling especially in tight low speed turns from affected corner on FWD and AWD vehicles. Cycles approximately with wheel speed.
Ball joint is more of a light clunk when going over bumps, no rhythm, also sometimes felt in the steering.
IE: just had to change ball joints in our Mercedes ML350. Did not hear anything but tip off was could feel it in the steering wheel especially pulling into garage over 1.5" curb.
Recheck the shock bolts-mounting hardware, spring seat, wheel bolt torque, etc. Also check your sway bar bushings and drop links. Last touched first checked.
This may sound too obvious. Check your front trunk (frunk) for anything that might cause this noise. Is the spare tire tight, all tools secure in the holder, loose somethings joyfully bounding around...?
