Default 996 exploding/failing engine: rumors or known issue?

This is one example of what I've been hearing:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/t735..._failures.html

I have an '04 3.6L 996 NA. I don't track the car. Should I be concerned about an engine explosion/failure?

What do you think?

That thread is almost 10 years old.....

Gonna go back to the 911 section now.... this is getting old.

Rather talk about 25 year old cars and fire potential....

This is the exact reason why I have not been here as often. Old indeed.

I am thinking Pete has it right:

this is old and not even relevant for me
the 911 board is kinda slow
PP is too darn fast

FB is not my thing.....I'm going over to the Honda board to find Tim - err 997 I meant

WOW speaking of 997's there is an 11' turbo triple black coupe at the shop with the ceramic brakes, center locks and black powder coated wheels...they are working to get more power out of it and OMG is it amazing! The guy is super cool and tracks it too! Man is that sucker sweet - only came with 500hp and 500 torque so you can see why he wants more

How can you stand to drive a turbo with only 500HP, I'm sure it can't even get out of my wife's ford minvan's way!

One mechanic says to the other...."Hey what's that white stuff on your mouth?"

The other mechanic says "Oh....just had some ice cream"

First mechanic replies "Thank god! I thought you just got done fixing a blown seal"
