Default Best water pump and source

My water pump blew up on Weds, scaring me to death with the rattle... I thought it was IMS. After talking to the folks at Flat6, I pulled the belt and started the engine for a second- no noise! Then I reinstalled the belt and used a stethescope to locate the offending noise. Sure enough, it is the water pump.

I have done a search and I can't seem to distill down the consensus about OEM vs. aftermarket (Fleabay) pumps. Can anyone make a recommendation please?

Thanks,
Tom

IIRC Jake sells water pumps. Whatever you get,I would stay away from the reman pumps. Sometimes it's worth spending a little extra to ensure your Not changing it again next year. Just my .02

I'm actually having a water pump installed in my C4S this week. My independent mechanic strongly recommended a new OEM water pump, so that's what I'm having installed.

Either use an OEM or an OEM supplier (Laso)... Stay clear of the reman's can be troublesome.

If you need an OEM or OEM supplier... I stock them... PM me for details.

JMHO, but I've seen very poor quality in the past with Laso pumps. I'd stick with OEM - there is a difference.

Cheers,
Joe

Sorry to hear you have had bad luck with a certain brand. We have not found the same results on the Laso as you indicate. While we stock both to satisfy those who must have their parts in the Porsche Box.

Cheers,
Chris

Anybody know anything about the steel impeller WP on ebay? Seems like a good idea if the quality is there

Don't need a Porsche box, I've just seen issues with both Porsche and BMW water pumps. One BMW pump had a wobbly impeller right out of the box!

At any rate, glad you all have had luck with Laso.

Cheers,
Joe
