Default Quiet Tires

I currently have Sumitomo HRZ III which are the noisiest tires with the worst ride possible. After looking over the Tire Rack website, the Michelin Pilot Super Sports got rave reviews for handling, ride and noise. Do any of you have any experience with these?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks
Larry

I found the HTR Z III's to be very quiet.

Not sure if the Michelins are better, but worth a try. They are quite a few dollars....I found Pirellis to be loud and the Conti's to be ok until the end....Tires do get louder as they wear.

Best of luck.

AD08 handle amazingly, btw, but are tad louder than the sumi's. But, well worth it if you drive the car like ti was meant to be drivien.

My Sumis aren't too loud at all. As they approach the end of their life, they aren't as loud as Pirelli P Zeros with this level of wear.

I've always liked Continental tires. They are usually very quiet. I have a set on our Cayenne now, and I'll seriously consider a set for my C4S when the time comes.

The PS2's are quiet. Quiet being a relative term in these cars. I've heard the Hankooks are quiet as well

I found the Sumis to be much quieter than the original pilot sports that the car had on when I bought it.

I can't imagine how much quieter tires could get.

I had Michelin PS2 and just replaced them with a set SUMITOMO HRZIII and I have not noticed any difference in tire noise, the SUMI are pretty quiet.

Actually I went for a DE this weekend with my new SUMI and I have to say that they are pretty good. Not as good as the PS2 but for almost half the price, I think they are a great choice.

Default Continental DWs

Conti DWs, great tires!! Great traction in wet and dry and quiet...

I have had the Sumis HTZ 3, Bridgestone 050A, Conti 2s, Dunlop Sport 8000 series and PS2s and so far I like these the best....

Also highly rated on Tirerack reviews.

My Conti 2 were the least favorite of list above, but theses DWs are awesome for a mid price tire between PS2 on the high end and Sumi or Hankook V-12s on the low end.......

Then, wouldn't anything be better?

Touring tires are probably going to be the quietest, but the performance will be significantly decreased.

Look for tires that have a continuous band around the center the the tread pattern - generally, it's the interruptions of the tread sipes touching the pavement that makes noise.

My Sumis are the quietest tire I've owned. How many miles on yours? I had Michelins on other cars and they were extremely loud in comparison.

My new DWs seem relatively quiet... but then pretty much most new tires do compared to the old set you just replaced.

Considering you have a high performance car and equipped it with maximum performance summer tires, what is your expectation of 'quiet?'

I would also like to ask how many miles on the Sumi's what year MFG and how are they wearing (alignment can produce excessive noise)

I never thought of the Sumi's as noisy but he DW's are pretty quiet....

I've got about 3,000 miles on a set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS. So far they are very quiet, but I don't consider 3K to be enough miles to make an accurate recommendation.

Michelin PS2s are the loudest, except for all the others.
