Thanks jsoderbe. Thursday it goes into the dealer who always does good work. Service manager is excellent in Honolulu and I'm sure they know how to burp the cooling. Plan is if its the same as yours they are going to flush the oil and cooling good then it will be back to good business.

Bump for an update on this? How many miles since oil cooler swap? Has the intermix shown back up?

Hope you are still going strong!

Yes, still going strong. I drove it for 2000 miles, had an occational oil drop in the water but no where near the previous amounts. I didnt clean it properly to be honest.

But, I had all different kinds of problems with that car. It felt like there was another problem each time I started it. After fixing everything that can break on the top (including the plastic window) I was just fed up with it.

Car was then sold under full disclosure with 6 months warranty.

I still have my 2001 GT3 look convertible though.

Regards,

Johan

Sorry, it is really hard to recommend what to do. I removed my oil cooler myself, which is a lot of work. I replaced the AOS at the same time, which made sense since the intake has to be removed anyway.

If you have warranty I should drive it to the dealer.

The people on this board with cracked heads had tons of oil in coolant, making it into pudding. And, they had water in oil too. I had neither, and it seems like you dont either. That is a good sign.

But to be honest the oil cooler is t exactly cheap either. I think you are looking at 1500-2000 USD at the dealer.

Regards,

Johan

Noelguillermo, what were the symptoms of your oil cooler failure? Can you describe more what you were experiencing? How difficult was it to change out the oil cooler?

Now that I look closely, it sure looks like there is a tiny crack between the two sides.
