Fuel tank rattle noise 996 C4 (MY1999)
Dear rennlist members,
Has anyone had any problems with "rattle noise" from the fuel tank in 996 ?
There is a distinct sound (rattle noise) when the car is driven over speedbumps / ruff pavement - Its sounds a little like loose stabilizer bushings (front axle), but there is no doubt that its origin is inside the fuel tank, most likely from either the fuel pump og tank guage mountings.
You can hear the sound when the car sits at a stand still, and shake the front of the car sideways at the tire with your hands. I have done this on a different 996 (same model year), and heard the same noise, only it was much more quiet...
I know I have heard / read about this a long time ago... But can`t remember the solution to this problem.
Any tip are very welcome, and much appreciated.
