the emblem fell off the center caps I stored in my basement leaving behind a hard dried spot of some sort of glue. I am afraid of damaging the center cap if I try to scrap the residue off.... what can I use to glue the emblems back to their spot? superglue came to mind but I dont know how it will survive being outdoors on a wheel...

I installed a new set of genuine Porsche caps on my car (996turbo wheels) about 6 months ago, havent driven the car one mile with them on and the other day I noticed three of the four crests had fallen off and were lying on my driveway, WTF? Bad batch of adhesive?
Upon inspection it does appear the adhesive that is left behind on the plastic cap itself seems dry and crispy. nice!
I plan on using RTV to bond them back together.

I would use 3M 5200. Super strong, never! comes unglued and it is flexible which handles vibration, shock. Buy it at West Marine stores or online.

may look into poly-urethane adhesive - it's used to glue a windshield and back glasses .. try a body shop they may simply glue it back on for you at a minimal cost

I had the same problem, I thought it was my fault caused by Simple Green or some other wheel cleaner. OEM Porsche caps lost one on the road never to be found. Of the remaining three found two were loose and one actually fell off in my hand. Pulled the last one off for safe keeping, ordered the replacement. Then set out to find the best adhesive as the original seemed to harden with age or react to my wheel cleaner.
Used a silicone adhesive, 8 months now and they're holding well.
