Default 1 year – 24,000 mile update

Yes, that’s right 12 months, 24,000 miles. So, I think it’s time for an update.

You may remember I picked up a nice 2002 C2 back in July, and complied with forum policy here:
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...1-finally.html

and like you all implored, i drove and drove and drove...

A serious road trip through the south for a wedding in Alabama, finishing up with some volunteer work in Gulfport Mississippi: about 4,000miles.
A snowy adventure to Toronto.
A blustery December trip to DC and another in the spring.
Two ski trips to Vermont, 1 to lake placid new York.
20 or so jaunts to see clients in new jersey.
And various back and forths to visit family in PA.

and sometimes i just drive to drive...

I’ve done (most of) the mainentance myself, and this is a quick summary of what I’ve done. Mind you this is the first car I’ve ever done any work on—it is in fact my first car ever.

26k mi: 30,000mi major maintenance performed (indy)
27k mi: State Inspection (indy)
27k mi: New Pirelli PZero Rears (indy)
31k mi: Oil and filter, Mobil 1 0w40
31k mi: New wiper blades, front running light bulb, front turn signal bulb
33k mi: Used (1 season) Blizzak LM-22’s on replica 993 turbo twists
35k mi: Used roof transport system; Yakima fat cat ski rack
36k mi: Oil and filter, Mobil 1 0w40
38k mi: cleaned corrosion on headlight contacts (the light was going on and off as i went over bumps)
41k mi: 45,000mi minor maintenance (changed/topped fluids, oil/cabin/air filters, cleaned maf and throttle body, cleaned radiators, other checks by indy)
42k mi: new wipers again (those winter trips really did a number)

Closing on 46,000 miles, and I’m thinking before the end of the summer, I’ll need:
- new fronts
- a brake job (hoping to try this one out myself)

So, thanks to all for the help, and for the spare bits and pieces that have kept her on the road through the year. Not sure I can match another 24k in the second year, but I think I’ll have to try.

You get an 'A' for usage and such a complete description of work performed. Nice job.

Way to go - you're an inspiration to us all to get out and drive more. Time has become my enemy...

Very nice, great to hear all the miles.
I recommend doing the brake & radiator clean out jobs as a DIY.
very simple and enjoyable.

thanks for the encouragement.

i forgot to mention that around 41k miles, right before i did the last oil change, the P2096 cel code came up. (post cat fuel trim too lean) i performed the air filter change, maf cleaning, throttle body clean, and cleared the code. it hasn't come back. post hoc ergo propter hoc on that one...

anyway, there's plenty of other threads on that code, just wanted to be complete in the description.

@B R I A N: did the radiator clean already. any entomologists want to check out the specimens collected in there? i'll be getting to the brake at some point (thanks van, for the very clear youtube diy)

@tarek: 7k more miles to catch up! is that a c4s or 40th?

thanks again.
