Just had my major servicing and spark plugs done, at a very reasonable cost of NZ $400, that's about US $300 because I supplied the oil, filter, and spark plugs myself. Didn't get pollen and belt replaced because they were done last year.
The dealer said that my motor mounts starting to split, and quoted NZ$1000 plus tax.
From reading various forums there is an option of using 993 RS mount, is this a better option rather than just using 996's ones again?
An online shop in the UK shows 93 quid for one mount.

From what I've read, motor mounts are an easy DIY project. I don't know about the 993 mounts, but 996 mounts seem to run between US $150 and $400 per pair online. Your dealer's quote seems very high.

Just be aware that the RS mount will bring more vibration into the cabin.

Another less expensive option is to install the 996 TTmounts. They're beefier than your 996 mounts, but not so stiff as to set off the knock sensors. I run them in my race car....

Since mine's a tip I don't need to improve my shift response.
So TT's mount is better? http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod33...96-TT-2000-05/

Wevo's are great but overkill for a street car w/tiptronic. Save yyour money for more important stuff. I got my TT mounts from a dismantler and I've raced on them fairly sucessfully for 2 years now....

Dismantler eh? Now that's a great idea, I would start looking around especially there would be cars around written off after the earthquakes.
