Default Alignment for removing / replace one strut?

It one rear strut is removed and replaced, I would think an alignment is necessary. The dealer says this is not the case...am I missing something?

I would not align it...the eccentrics that control alignment dont have to be touched to swap a strut -

HOWEVER

if you change apples to oranges this is not the case as ride height effects alignment, but for apples to apples I would run the gamble and monitor the tire wear

I agree, alignment not required. I replaced both my rear struts and monitored tire wear just in case... No problems. It only makes sense though as well as all the linkages are not being touched, only the strut being dropped down and removed/replaced. Hope that helps
