Constant CEL is okay to drive on, but if it's blinking that could indicate something more serious.

Stop by Part source or Crappy tire, buy it read code, return and say it didn't work the way you thought it did, or just keep it. Depending on what you want, a friend of mine picked up just a cable on line that connects to his iphone, I have a OBD scanner, and a cable that hooks up to my laptop.

I am big proponent of the Durametric as it provides a ton of diagnostic capability.

Stop by Part source or Crappy tire, buy it read code, return and say it didn't work the way you thought it did.
Please don't do this.... it's cheesy and dishonest.

0300 code - random misfire. I reset the code and went for a short ride, seems okay no recurring CEL and the engine sounds fine.

Fingers crossed

thanks to you guys who got me off my azz to get a 100.00 engine code reader too!

Not sure the code reader is working right. A P0300 is a general misfire error code but I believe there should be one (or more) specific misfire codes logged as well. One of more P0301 through P0306 for misfires cylinders 1 - 6.

It may be the code reader is incapable of reading more than one error code and it left the specific misfire codes in the DME. Of course if you erase the codes, this is a global erase so all codes, read or not, will be erased.

Sincerely,

Macster.
