Hi folks,
Just signed up. I drive a 1999 996 Cabriolet. Just recently, the passenger side window stopped working correctly. Normally, when you open the door, the window retracts slightly, and then when you close the door, it goes back up by itself. Well, the first stage of this function is not working any more.
When I open the door, the window does not retract the half inch or so on its own any more. I have to gently push the window down a bit and then carefully close the door. The up function still works after the door is shut, however.
Is this simply a motor issue? If so, is this something I can repair myself? I am pretty handy with repairs but I have not worked on the door mechanism before.
Thanks - Bart
