Thats correct. I know of some car wash detailers who use them.
Of course there are some fancy ones out there specially for this job. If you want to spend the $$$

normal garden hose, clean mitt, foam tank/gun thing for suds, shade, and leaf blower.
clean microfiber towels to finish drying. Very little touching paint.

I gouged the the paint on the lower front quarter panel where the paint is "rough" with a pressure washer. I was spraying the area to clean off some mud. Nothing was coming off, so i got a little closer. It started to look worse. I turned off the power washer only to find that the spray was way too strong and gouged out the soft, rough paint at the bottom of the wheel well.
If you use one, be real careful not to get too close. I would not recommend using one. A very expensive mistake by me!

Pressure washers--not for the novice user. A pressure washer that can etch concrete (Karcher) can easily do a number on your Porsche--but just be careful. Stand away from it from a distance. You'll save a lot of water with them.

Yes, a leaf blower... works great if your p-car already has a good coat of wax. Plus you typically don't have to towel dry = minimizes risk of swirls. Get an electric one and try it out. Remember when you used to go thru those car washes(before the p-car of course)... they typically had a blower at the end of the wash. Same concept.
