Quick! How much did you pay for your last brake job?

Holy crap; I've never been so thankful to be a shadetree mechanic!
I replaced my front rotors yesterday for $150 total. Good rotors from an OEM supplier, too. Took about 15 minute/wheel. I think it took longer to get the car jacked up and wheels off than to replace the rotors; was about as close to trivial as a Porsche job gets. Nothing about brakes on these cars are hard, labor should be insignificant if they're not trying to rip you off.

I just replaces my pads (ebc redstuff), oem rotors, SS brakelines, brake fluid and all brake wear sensors for about 1100usd. The price is excluding fitting at my local Indy. Cheers

Last time I think I paid $300 - $400 for just pads and new sensors per axle at my local (non dealer) Porsche shop.
Realizing I now need rotors too and I'm on a budget so after MUCH shopping around:
PADS:
I hear great things about these pads in forums:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/cyberbrake/m...&_trksid=p3686
Cheap as all hell - $70 for all corners
ROTORS:
Not seeing anything bad said about Bolo COATED rotors. Pelican sell coated and uncoated. All four corners looks like $260
SENSORS:
Amazon Prime.. $12 each!
Found some YouTube videos and have to say if anything 996 should be the easiest brake job I've ever done.

Don't know about those pads, but I am very happy with these:
You may also need new shims, but only if you trash the old ones while removing. Use a sharp putty knife and they come off easy.

I bought some centric 105 ceramic pads from RockAuto for my boxster and have been very happy with them. Quiet, with no brake dust, and just $50 per pair. The minteks I have in front grip well, but are noisy and dusty as hell. Even the rotors are super easy- make sure whatever you get is coated unless you like a patina of rust on your rotors.
Porsche brake jobs are about as easy as it gets; there's no reason to pay someone to change them for you. Don't be like my friend, though: don't forget to pump your brake pedal a couple times to repressurize the brake system before you unchock!

I just had front pads and rotors done, factory rotors and (not sure of the brand) ceramic pads. $750 out the door, Porsche independent specialist.

Don't feel too bad, a year ago I paid $1,100.00 for an Indy shop to install what turned out to be a reman Bosch alternator. Could have had a new one installed at the dealer for less. No matter how you cut it, that's being taken advantage of. An Indy shop, unless they are really special, has to offer some sort of price advantage over a certified Porsche Dealer. Haven't gone back to the Indy since.

If I remember correctly I paid approx 600 from the dealership with my shop discount for OEM pads, rotors, pad wear sensors, hardware kit, caliper bolts, and caliper rebuild kit (pistons, seals, dust boots)

You can save significant $$ by not using porsche oem pads and rotors .. buy the textar pads from pelican $123 and sebro rotors $112 each and do yourself or take to euro indie. ( this is easy job don't need porsche specialist) .. labor. For front axle is $150 at my bmw indie .. total should be close to $500 this way plus any misc parts like rotor screw and sensor ....
