M96 ENGINE PRODUCTION MODS
In 2008, my '03 C4S suffered an IMS failure.
It had a new, factory Porsche engine installed in 10/08....#M9603AT665XXXXX.
In reading A. Streather's tome on the 996, this engine seems to have had all the mods made.
RMS triple seal
Larger IMS bolt
Larger IMS bearing
I would appreciate comments on this engine to help me sleep better.
I love the car, and it feels strong and athletic.

Being serious, if the engine was installed in 2008 I do agree with you that you have the larger IMS bearing.
I would also agree that you have the best RMS seal. I don't believe it is a triple seal, whatever that means. What the seal was made of tends to have created the fix. The new seal is made of PTFE and does seem to help with future RMS leaks.
The IMS bearing is bigger but that didn't stop all the problems with failing engines. That bearing is so big that it can not be removed from the engine unless you split the engine case. That is the bad part.
If you owned the car when the engine was replaced, and you followed the break in procedure for the engine, and you change the oil religiously every 5K miles OR 6 months (both mileage and time count) with a good quality synthetic, you should have many years of enjoyable driving without issue.
If the car sits for months on end without being used and you have neglected to change the oil frequently then you should be afraid.
Otherwise.....enjoy!

Thanks for all your comments.
I am sleeping well, and blasting around in the 996. What a dream to cruise in. We recently spent a weekend in Ottawa, and it was comfy and smooth.
