Just missed the warranty period, eh? ;( If you haven't, you should verify in service date, Federal Emissions warranty covers cats 8 years from in service...

Yeah tried to pull that one on them but because it's a second hand cat I got from a fellow rennlister they won't cover it. I did try.

So it's either find another one or start looking at a sports exhaust since a full exhaust kit is cheaper than the single CAT from the dealer $2400.....

Sean, when my cats went bad I replaced with AWE units. Much less than new factory ones and work fine. No CEL's and a bit louder, look nicer too.

I got mine replaced recently, $2500 under warranty, it is ridiculously expensive, I assume they figured they always dies under warranty so might as well make money out of it.

put a cat-bypass

Same thing happened to me and I put the fabspeed one on. Sounds a little better, feels like it added some hp, and hopefully lasts! It did clear the CEL..

this is only your first set? I am currently on my FIFTH set. I think all the ones go bad on the driver's side.

yeah but the first one was because of a blown engine, coolant flushed through the cat, washed out all the good stuff....

Replaced under warranty a few months before expiration of federal emission coverage.

They replace my engine and the cat was bad after the cooliant flushed through the CAT, I replaced it, and it's the same one gone bad again.

Sean, I have a set of cats that I had to buy for mine to pass CA smog. I paid $173 plus shipping for them last year. I would be willing to sell them for $250 plus shipping.
