I just removed the hardtop on my 2000 Carrera Convertible for the Spring and my soft top will not close. The red light on the dash flashes red when I push the button to close the top. It was working fine when I let the top down and put the hard top for the winter. Any suggestions what the problem might be before I take it to the dealer?

On Renntech there is a DIY for topping off the hydraulic fluid. Also, always make sure you are on a level surface- for some reason, the tops get grumpy when the car is on a slope. Is there any noise at all from the mechanisms when you push the button? Parking brake engaged?

Does the top start to close or does it stay in the closed position with no movement?
Any noise or just blinking light?
Also, make sure all 4 windows are all the way up.
The more details the better.

the red light is flashing becasue the top will not close. Have the top fixed and the light will stop flashing.

I figured out the problem. The sensor on my parking brake seems to have a short somewhere. I noticed that the parking brake light on the dash was not on when I had the parking brake engaged. However when I raised and lowered it several times the light came on and off. When the light is on, the top will close. I guess, I still need to take the car in to the dealer to fix whatever is causing the parking brake light not to come on every time I engage the parking brake.
