Default sway bar link question

anybody know where the other end of the sway bar link (front of C2) connects to?

Like the rear sway bar, does it connect to the strut?

The other end is the through bolt that secures the front damper into the wheel carrier.

That's not the right spot for a stock sway bar drop link. When you run a GT3 bar, you connect a shorter aftermarket drop link (AP, Tarret, etc) to that pinch bolt [as shown in your picture]. With the stock sway bar, or an HR bar, the stock drop link connects under the spring perch.

See below.

My ROW 99 C2 had the stock sway bar connected to the point I indicated and there was no other mounting point under the spring perch.

I had the ROW on mine, and IIRC used the stock drop links mounted to the wheel carrier. Maybe someone upgraded to adjustable drop links and mounted to thepinch bolt? I'll poke around later.

Here is a pic which shows the ROW M030 suspension (99 C2), the front struts basically look the same as the stock struts which they replaced and there is no mounting point under the spring perch for the drop link.

I'll have to check my old info, I only had the ROW on for a little while, and that was years ago. When I used a GT3 bar, it did mount to the pinch bolt, but I switched back to HR and used the mounting point on the wheel carrier. I've slept since then, so my memory might be way off.

Oh it's sorted... that was just the threads being soaked in liquid wrench prior to removing the stock suspension and replacing it with the M030.

After I pulled the motor and swapped the brake lines and suspension I sprayed most exposed steel & threads with BH S-50 Dynax to protect them from the elements - so they may not look pretty but they will remain in good shape.

TD,

pretty sure that your picture is a C4. The C4/Turbo used a completely different spring perch as shown in your picture. Also the driveshaft kinda gives it away too.

From what I can remember, the C2's front suspension all mounted the drop link to the pinch bolt for the stock and row suspensions .
