Default Radio Codes: Battery Change 2002

Guys, Did a search on this topic but looking for some more specific information ...

* Previous threads note that you lose radio codes when changing batteries on an 99-01.

* The threads also note that cars from 2003 and after don't lose their codes.

I, of course, have a 2002 -- right smack in the middle. Anyone have experience changing battery on a 2002 and the impact on radio codes?

Also, has anyone found that using a battery tender (cigarette lighter style) allows one to maintain radio codes and other presets and drive info during the battery change.

Thanks fellas !

I just changed mine on an 03.
I left my battery tender on the terminals and the radio PRESETS stayed. I know the security code stays in the car computer but the last time I disconnected the battery, a few years ago, I lost the station presets. So It seems possible that yours would stay alive also.

I changed my battery a few mos ago 2001 no battery back-up.
Had to enter code in radio. Radio presets stayed in the memory.

OP if you don't have your radio code. Join RennTech.org @ http://www.renntech.org/forums/ There is a section to request the codes.
There are many options that you can see after you join. TSBs, part number lookups, some manuals (I got one for my rado) radio codes, etc..
