Long story short, my 2000 996 got vandalized and the punks stole my hood crest, "4" off the engine lid (it's a Carrera 4), and my valve stem caps..

So I ordered all my stuff from Vertex Auto..

The valve stem caps were good..

But, the "4" for the engine lid was too small. The part number on the packaging for the "4" was 993xxxxxx. I guess that there is a difference between the "4" from the 993 and the "4" for the 996??

I ordered the hood crest kit and when I went to install it it doesn't line up with the marks from the hood crest that was on it. It's nearly a 1/4 inch lower, not to mention that it's crooked. I ordered the part number 996xxxxxxx but the one they sent was part number 993xxxxxx. I though that there wasn't a difference between the two, but I guess there is? They said that the part is a genuine Porsche part, but I just dont know..lol..

francars, thanks for the offer but I'm going to return it..
They sent me the wrong ones for both the hood crest and the rear emblem, the back looks nothing like that..

I'm returning them and they're sending me the right ones..

The way the guy from Vertex explained it to me was that the 996 part superceded the 993 part but not the other way around...so the 996 part number crest will fit the 996 and 993 while a crest with a 993 part number will only fit a 993 and not a 996.
