I have also posted at Renntech, just wanting to canvas some opinions.

Basically was looking under the car and noticed this wet patch (see picture). The picture was taken from the left-rear side of the car, just next to the jacking point.

What would this be, oil level is fine, no warning light etc. when car was last started on Saturday.

well it looks like oil and its on the area the motor and transmission are joined.

Could be an RMS, and IMS seal leak, an AOS, a transmission leak or even coolant running down form somewhere like the expassion tank -

If its an RMS leak it would not neccessarily show low on the dip stick and for sure would not trigger a warning light... have a real watercooled porsche guy take a lok for you, most places wont charge for a quick look and will be able to point out what the cause "most likely is" and the level of urgency to getting a repair

If you hear any strange noises or the oil suddenly makes and puddle (dinner plate size) under the car... have it towed in for repairs

OH - if you are adventuris get some of the "wet" oil on your finger and see what color it is...if "oil color" smell it... transmission oil has a foul stentch unlike motor oil - that will help you do a self diagnosis

I've just got the car for a month, and it's a 2003 C4 Cab. It's only done 66,000 kms. I'd rather not start the car again, I'm going to drop by at the dealer I bought it from and get them to make the call after showing some photos. If they say bring it in and the engine blows up then it'll be their problem.

Hopefully this will get resolved quickly as tomorrow will be the first day everyone's back to work so it's most likely thatthe workshop will be a bit busy.

good plan... is it a CPO car or have a warranty with it.

My guess is it is not going to blow up, but I am 10,000 miles away and only guessing

LOL, it's not CPO'd but in New Zealand we have Consumer Guarantee Act and Fair Trading Act which require traders to rectify any problems or faults that occur within a 'reasonable' period after purchase. Obviously not wear or tear.

In the old days it was within 5000kms or 3 months depending on the condition of the vehicle.

It's never clear what reasonable is, but 6 weeks and 2,500kms from purchase I'd say it's still close.

that could be coolant.... it runs through the tunnel. Thats way to wet and not get a low oil level. Is it behind the engine as well?

taste it only after you conclude its not oil... that will tell you if its coolant or brake fluid

geez just check your fluid levels that should tell you if it brake fluid or coolant. if it is coolent it would smell up the garage. Looks like oil to me and it looks like the ole RMS/IMS problem.

actually have seen power steering hoses fail about there too....IIRC

naturally it "looks RMS" but I would not be surprised to find out something else

still my $$ is on the RMS - keep us posted

It definitely has an oil type property as it doesn't stink like coolant.

Which oil? That's the mystery, I'd let the Porsche garage find that out, going to drop by this morning.

I haven't checked power steering or brake fluid levels. Coolant level is as usual.
