I see no street banefit other unless you are into polishing your motor. Others might have a reason but your car came with un-coated cans so why would Porsche do that if it wasnt perfectly OK

I did it when I ordered mine, but mostly just because I thought it looked cool. I've heard it also gives you an added measure of protection against rust or corrosion, but I'm not sure if that's really true. I went with the "ceramchrome" finish and I think it looks great!

If you take the ceramic and coat everything from the manifolds out you have the potential for increased HP! thru thermal management.
BENEFITS FACT: None!
You might see some added corrosion protection... But, you will not achieve any Hp gains.... IT is a bling thing!

My vote, save the $$$$. Unless you are going to track the hell out of it, full throttle, extended runs, in a warm and humid environment where the heat dissapation would certainly help (wouldn't hurt) ...it probably won't be worth the extra money ( and I am a big fan of the Fister Mod (no ceramics) ....sure looks really cool.....like the pix above on FLY's post. On the other hand, if the money isn't important, go for it!

I agree with Scott on this! Don't flush the money down the crapper just for the BLING! No one will be impressed... If you are a PRO level driver then you might see a few hunderdths of a second here or there.

I can tell you... that, the cats are right underneath that intake.... it gets hot in that engine compartment. If costs is not an issue, every little bit helps. But coating the cats is prob more effective than the mufflers.

Coating the cats for thermal management into the intake is a poor allocation of your funds. If your goal is improved air flow into the intake... There are better methods.

Thanks, guys you all basically confirmed what I already suspected. So just ordered them without the coating.
P.S. cost is always an issue or I would be on the 997 GT2/GT3 forum
