Default aftermarket warranty for 996

First time here. I am considering purchasing a 996 (1999, 46K miles). Here is the car I am considering, any opinions are welcome

http://www.harrisonimports.net/used/...eHistory=true#

I have read about all the engine problems these cars have so I won't buy the car unless I can find a warranty plan that will cover everything, especially an engine replacement. I know most aftermarket warranty companies are just out there to get your money so I am looking for suggestions on companies you've had good experiences with. Thanks!

It is highly unlikely you will find any reputable after market warranty company that will insure a car that old.

In 2009, the cut off for Fidelity was a 2002 and 50,000 miles.

Cool

... and yet, on TV a couple weeks ago a company was advertising to cover for older cars and higher mileage than stated above. I cannot vouch for any of them, but they could be out there.

Caveat emptor

to the OP, welcome; What sort of price range are you looking at for a 996 variety? that red 996 is pry worth closer to $15-17K right off the bat.

IMO, that car has seen better days, you're better off going a little newer or at least with a Pcar that has better documentation and care. If you are dead set on a warranty, then you need to consider paying a bit more. Easycare has been mentioned here for aftermarket coverage; won't hurt to make a call.

Easycare doesn't cover Porsche 911's last time I checked.

Anyway, I think you should do a search on "Aftermarket warranty" on this forum.

Good luck

Thanks for the replies. My budget is quite limited, up to 25K. The problem is the market for used 996s here in the Salt Lake area is very limited. Thanks for the easycare suggestion as well, I will give them a call.

Why limit yourself to Salt Lake, look further and find the best car.

I thought of that but what's the recommended procedure: Find it online, have a mechanic check it out then fly out to test drive it if it all looks good?

Based on your location why not check out Bay Area, CA? There are a few better examples at possible lower cost shipped to you. Actually you can buy and drive home, well not sure with the weather these days

For the money you have to spend you can get a newer car. I would throw this back to ocean. Like Marc said increase your search area. There are cars coming out of the woodwork. Good luck!

The word "hammered" seems more appropriate. How do you get an interior to look that bad with only 46K miles?

Here is the interior of a 53K mile car I just picked up for $24K
