During HS in 71 I had to start with a 64 MGB. Spent a lot of my money from working at a moving company during summer vacation and winter doing piano and organ delivery's any night of the week for the car. Made a great HS car.

I had Datsun 510's in high school. Beat up rat racer style ones.

As far as the single wiper goes, I don't hate the idea, but the stock blades aren't long enough for the pass side to wipe in front of the driver. There's room for a 2 inch longer wiper though, and if you reversed the direction of the wipe you could park the wiper all the way down in front of the driver and lose a bit of stroke on the passenger side instead. A little custom bending of the wiper arm could help too.

With a little work this can all be done but ultimately the question of *why* does loom large.

I added a rear wiper on my 996, but it didn't seem to come off as well as the OEM rear wiper.

I was just wondering as a co-worker asked me if I had one windshield wiper... He got me thinking, and topped it off with saying he saw a porsche in town with 1.

Funny thing is the day I posted this thread, the same night I had a dream that I found a box in my house with new moulding/trim and a longer wiper blade with a few other things to complete this mod. LOL

My friends old c230 had the 1 wiper. I'm not sure I would do it since I just ordered two new wiper blades, but just a curious thought.

The Mercedes single wipers work differently - they're designed to get the whole windshield clean by oscillating in and out while it swipes back and forth.

(at the 1:50 mark, you can see it in action)

OMG I have seen things that look like that, but I am not saying where I saw them!
