Default engine shutdown noise

Hi All
I've got a C2 99 Manual and have noticed a small rattle noise when shutting the engine down. Doesn't sound like it's in the engine but something external so I wasn't too fussed. I've just read a recent thread that had a similar sound and one of the comments was to try turning the engine off with the clutch pressed in (disengaged) and then turn the engine off. I tried this with mine and there was no noise! Does anyone have any idea what this may be?

Thanks in Advance,
Jeff

Clutch connects to the trans department so I'd figure the last rattling of the engine cutting off is the driver train gearing area. I'd imagine any little loosness would be a rattle.

Although there is the throw out bearing that has pressure on it when the clutch is pushed in and doesn't when the clutch is engaged.

Dual Mass flywheel & or Trans. rattle. Mostly normal (unless you can hear it over Spinal Tap at "11")

I also have a similar noise and a lot of people do if you search. However, I have NOT seen any fix for this yet. Just like you, mine does not make any rattling noise if I depress the clutch when shutting off the engine.

Hey Thanks for the replies. It's good to know I'm okay in not being too worried about it.

Mine does the same thing. I was worried that it could be the dual mass flywheel, but likely not. The dealer replaced the RMS 1 yr ago and said clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate were in good condition. Hopefully they were correct.
