I just installed a Dension GW500 in my 2004 C4S with PCM2/NAV -- works like a champ! Purchased the Dension from Eric at Bumperplugs; had it installed by a local indie car audio shop that came recommended from the Porsche dealer in town.
I'm very pleased with the Dension setup; I had it configured to remove the CD changer (completely replaced with the Dension) as my changer was acting up. Sound quality is really, really fantastic when playing iPod music; and I like the feature to be able to plug in a thumb drive with MP3's on it just in case you forget to bring your iPod with you. The unit was installed just behind the head unit and I had the iPod connecter run through the center console and up through the compartment/arm rest.
I'd suggest the Dension for what you're after; I've not seen any bad reviews posted on that unit at all.
Good luck!

I have installed the DENSION on my MOST 2003 C2, No PCM, No nav.
Very easy install but very hard to control exactly what will play next on the iphone, unless you control the iphone directly. doesn't bother me as all I wanted was to shuffle the whole playlist. so I have a dedicated ipod in my trunk in fact and did not even bother having a cable into the interior as I hate to play with the ipod when I drive. I just use the radio to skip and leave it on random.
I have a full dIY on Renntech

costly but only way to keep the stock look.

About $120 ... took about an hour and a half for the tech to install; really easy and many folks DIY it just fine.
When you order your unit you may want/need to get the Yazaki optical connector as some cars made in 2004 have that fitting -- mine does and I had to have my install guy come back for a second try at the install after I got the Yazaki connector.
(Eric at bumperplugs was very helpful on this point, you can send him an email about the connectors)

No, just trying to achieve the best in: mp3 audio + mp4/m4v video management; navigation (directions which you can control, routes/waypoints, fully configurable/zoomable maps), including quality traffic options (which means YOU get to choose which one: Google, traffic.com, etc.)
It's a pathetic assortment out there. Hold your nose and choose from a bunch of options that are all 18 mos behind the curve. :-(

I know that some of you would like to keep the OEM sound system to keep your car eternally classics and future concourse winners. But why not save the OEM stereo and keep it in a vault. Replace it with new technology to satisfy your present needs and just put the OEM system back after 20 years? (if you still have your car)
