Default Steering wheel creaks in the cold - is there a fix?

When turning the steering wheel at low speeds, when the temperature drops below freezing, my steering wheel creaks - like something is binding in the column. It happened last winter and has started again this winter - no issues at other times.

I think the clock spring does not like the cold, but would appreciate if anyone can confirm the same issues and if there is a fix for it. I can live with it, but it can be a bit disconcerting noise.

Many thanks.

I learned to live with it (assuming my car survives the surgery this week)

It is definitely the clock spring & I've been living with it for 3 years now. The creaking wheel is so annoying I won't drive when temps are sub 40. Moving south would be nice, but not an otpion so I never found find a fix.
Please update thread if you find a fix.

Anybody ever ask the dealer if there is a certain place to lube with the special lube?
I'm sure some place has found a simple fix be it flood a certain spot with a tube spraying lube in there.

to bad I just sold my clock spring could have been an easy swap out for you.

Pick one up and replace it!
