Default Are these side skirts so horribly wrong?

I just got this car and I like the nose and the side skirts, but a few of you mentioned that they are MKI and I should have MKII.

Are these horribly wrong?

I want to get a rear wing and better wheels, but will the MKII side skirts make that much of a difference?

Need opinions.

Thanks

Since the nose is not period-correct, I wouldn't worry about the side skirts. They look perfectly fine. And the ONLY folks who will know the difference or care enough to mention it are the folks on this forum or at a PCA Parade-level concours judging. Get whatever spoiler pleases YOU. These cars are NOT yet in the window for total period/date correct parts requirements. That is the coolest thing about 996's. THESE are the ones you can modify and customize to your hearts content without castigation.

In my own personal opinion, your car would be an excellent candidate for the sugar scoop rear spoiler that looks like the '73-'74 RS. The color is just right to pull that off nicely. Since the front nose is styled from a 997 GT3RS, the whole thing would actually come together well, I think.

Thanks for the opinions, I actually feel much better.

Does anyone have a picture of the sugar scoop rear spoiler?

I like it and the price sounds great. Just get a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) to see that the car was not abused or had any body damage that was repaired. I would also consider getting a nice tail to balance the looks of the aggressive front-end style.

When I bought my 2003, I ordered the side skirts and it was supposed to be the MK I syle. I think Porsche last used the MK I in 2002 and changed it to MK II in late 2002 or early 2003. I actually like the MK I GT3 kit.

Yeah, make it a +1 for me, as well, I think the car's front end and skirts look great... And another +1 for putting a good tail on there... I think it'd look bad@ss with a GT2 tail...

Obviously, you were attracted to your Porsche 911 when you bought it. Based on that, I would think you are fine in keeping that look and perhaps adding a rear wing if that's in the cards to complete the loo your after. I also think your Porsche looks fine as is.

Do you guys have any suggestions as to what wing to get?

Also, what about the wheels? I was thinking different ones.

Not affiliated but below are some tail pics. These are the GT2 style spoilers.

I was the guy (or at least one of them) that pointed out the MK I skirts on the MK II car. I did that prior to you purchasing the car, only because I wanted you to know that the version of the skirts did not match the version of the car.

I actually like the MK I skirts better than the MK II skirts and I think they look good on your car. If you like them don't worry about what anyone else thinks, including me!

Hell, what do I know? I don't even own a Porsche anymore! I drive a f*cking POS Honda!

Thanks for saying that Tim, you were one of the guys who pointed out that the skirts were the wrong ones.

I like the GT2 rear wings, they would look great on my car as would the Techart 19" Formula wheels, thank for the opinions guys!
