Default Outside Temp Display

Hi Guy's,

I just got my new (well 2003) 996 last night.

I love this car.

I have one question.

How do I set the outside temp display?

I've gone through all the display settings and they are all set correctly, but when I finish the display for outside temp just shows ---- (4 dash's), like it's not registering temp.

Any thoughts?

One last thing...is it typical for these cars to be LOUD on the inside? It sounds like it needs rear bearings but the sound doesn't change at different speeds, I'm thinking it's just loud tire noise???

One more thing, is there a switch or button inside that manually lifts the rear spoiler?

Hello,

The switch to manually lift the spoiler is on the bottom left side where the fuse cover is.

You are probably right about the tire noise... check the inside rear's for wear. I would get this checked out right away.

Not sure about the temp display...

post some more pics of the car and welcome!

The temperature sensor should be in the passenger side front bumper duct visible from outside. Potentially this part is missing or shorted. It looks like you have an aftermarket front clip, potentially it was removed or damaged during that installation.

Nice 911 you got there. Enjoy the holidays cruising in it. Maybe even purposely get stuck in a traffic jam so you can enjoy just sitting there in defiance of the situation hehehe

I am so pumped, I just got it last night and I've alreadt waxed it this morning!!!

Here are some pictures.

I checked the tires and they're pretty worn in the rear and are from 2007. I guess that would account for some noise out back.

I'm not too far from Avalon. I live in Rumson by Asbury Park and Red Bank.

Is there anyway I can decipher what original options this car had from it's VIN?

Very nice but I would consider replacing those MkI side skirts with the MkII skirts that actually flow properly with the front end that has been added to your car.

You're the second person who has said that. I may do it eventually, but tires are my first order of business with this car.

Yes, but it's easier to look at the sticker under the front hood. It will list all factory option numbers.

Welcome Steve from another newbie.

I've had mine for a couple of weeks but I still have the chills every time I drive my car.

If you want to know the options of your car, go to suncoast's website here, and put in your VIN. They'll get back to you within a couple of days.

You have to have automatic lights for them to turn on automatically.

There is a button on the dash that makes the exhaust louder when you press it. What is it's purpose? Is it just to make the exhaust less restrictive?

I like it loud.
