Odd request here. I am looking for someone who can recover a Tequipment leather shift ****.
Bought a used 996 a while back and my Wife, who will drive the car a bit, wanted a new "clean" shift ****..(insert joke here)....women thing I think, but I guess I can see that...either way I smiled and agreed...after all she lets me play with fun cars. I bought and installed a standard late 996/997 **** and it looks and feels great.
Trouble is, the original tequipment ****, part of some big $$ aluminum trim package per the original sticker, is an absolute thing of beauty...great size and perfectly weighted, attaches with a set screw as opposed to a big rubber grommet, etc. The only defect is the leather is slightly worn near the top, exactly where you would expect if the prior owner wore a ring. It is beige, so the worn spots show...the boot is perfect. I'd like to recover and use the original ****. I tried the two trim shops that have done work on my Brit cars and they were less than enthusiastic, but would try it.
Any experiences or recommendations? Anybody in the market for a Tequipment **** if I'm unsuccessful?
Thx, w

I had my steering wheel done by them, easy to work with, excellent quality and workmanship, a very fair price, and quick turn around.
Going to have them do a new shift boot this winter.
Happy Thanksgiving!
