Did the resistors come with the lights?...or did you have to figure out what to use?

Nothing for widebody 996's right? I believe that the tail lights are different, correct?

No I had to purchase them from an electronics store like Fry's. I did have to research and learn how to fix "hyperflash".



I am not sure. I don't remember seeing anything but they may be available.

You can get them from Amazon for under $300. Available in both smoke and clear. They used to be $229 for a while on Amazon too.

So I ordered both the clear and smoked.
The clears came perfect.
The smoked came all broken up - I think they were former returns.
On MY Mk2 996 it will NOT work without wiring in parallel 50W 20ohm resistors.

if you can explain exactly where you soldered the resistors that would be great. I am still planning to buy another as my first batch were broken

you need to buy 4 resistors.
for turn signals I bought 25w resistors
for stop light 50w resistors

you need to solder them in parallel to each of their respective wire harnesses.

i haven't tried a body fit yet - will do that next. if it sucks i'm not going to do it either.

Why would they not come with required resistors? Seems crazy not to be included.

So as long as people keep buying them and wiring in their own resistors I guess the manufacturer figures why bother. It just increases cost for them.
It's not like it's an OEM product or anything. It's pretty crudely made...

You may also get fault codes as the ECU sees a lower 'value' number due to the LED's lower wattage.

I love these but have heard that it screws up the computer system. Does the resisitor discussion help this issue??

I never had any issues because of the LEDs, I keep hearing about ECU this and and ECU that, electrical this eletrical that. lol if you are worried about having eletrical problems because of the LED's, I think the LEDs causing eletrical problems should be the least of your worries lol....just keeping it real...

Since I have had my car and before the LED's, let's see.. sunroof motor, both power window regulators (worn cabling), freon o-ring, starter mechanism....and this car is not my daily driver..

I only had to solder in 1 pair of resistors 1 on each side only for the turn signals.

When I got the LED's, my flashers were blinking way too fast which is what they call "hyperflash".

Then the research I did turned up this post on 6speed.
